Iftar begins immediately after sunset. It is not advisable to postpone it until a later time.
People begin to break their fast according to the Sunnah with dates or water. The Prophet Muhammad said: "When one of you breaks his fast, let him break his fast with dates, and if he does not find dates, let him break his fast with water, for truly it purifies."
In particular, every year during the month of Ramadan, iftar dinners (evening meals breaking the day's fast) are organized.
